Itinerary


Day 1: Oslo
Arrival Oslo. Suggested city sightseeing tour including visits to the Viking Ships and the Vigeland Sculpture Park. Hostel accommodation: Oslo Hostel Holtekilen



Day 2: Oslo – Andalsnes Approx km 450
Breakfast. Drive through charming open farming districts and along the shores of Lake Mjøsa, Norway’s biggest lake to Lillehammer (Host city to the 1994 Winter Olympic Games). Suggested visit the open air Folk Museum “Maihaugen”. Continue through the grand Gudbrandsdal valley to Åndalsnes. Hostel accommodation: Andalsnes Hostel



Day 3: Andalsnes – Geiranger – Hellesylt Approx km 90
Breakfast. Cross the famous Trollstigen mountain (the road is open summertime) and take the ferry Linge – Eidsdal. From Eidsdal descend the breathtaking serpentine road to the exceptionally picturesque tourist resort Geiranger. Embark the ferry that takes us along Norway’s most famous fjord, the Geiranger Fjord. (reservation on the ferry is necessary) Disembark in Hellesylt. Hostel accommodation: Hellesylt Hostel



Day 4: Hellesylt – Førde Approx km 170
Breakfast. Through some of Norway’s most beautiful landscapes with its famed lakes, glacial arms and rugged mountains. Hostel accommodation: Forde Hostel



Day 5: Førde - Bergen Approx km 180
Breakfast. Driving south and cross the Sognefjord by ferry from Lavik to Oppedal. We are heading for the hanseatic Bergen, Norway’s 2nd largest city. Suggested city sightseeing including a visit to the home of the composer Edward Grieg, the Bryggen Warf and the mount Fløyen. Hostel accommodation: Bergen Hostel Montana



Day 6: Bergen – Hardanger (Lofthus) Approx km 145
Breakfast. Drive direction Hardanger. A stop in Norheimsund to see the waterfall is recommended. Outside Øystese there is a newly opened visitor centre for salmon breading – one of Norway`s fastest growing exports today. Continue Kvanndal for ferry Kvanndal – Kinsarvik (reservation on ferry is recommended). Hostel accommodation: Hardanger Hostel Lofthus

Day 7: Hardanger - Geilo Approx km 140
Breakfast. Drive from Lofthus via Eidfjord – atop at the Eidfjord Nature centre is recommended) up the Måbødalen Valley, passing one of the most impressive waterfalls in Norway: Vøringsfossen. Cross the mountain plateau of Hardangervidda
to Geilo. Hostel accommodation: Geilo Hostel

Day 8: Geilo – Oslo Approx 240 km
Breakfast. Drive down the broad and open Hallingdal (valley) to Oslo.
